Fintech QA engineering blog

The FintechAssuranceLabs engineering blog publishes in five categories: regulation clauses with primary sources, public incident timelines with the test that would have caught each failure, tooling configuration with versions, copyable practice checklists, and dated industry data with its testing implication. Every post names its author, with pen names disclosed on author pages, and lists dated sources.

CFPB open banking rule: the 1033 reconsideration proposal at OIRA since 4 August 2026

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) sent a proposed rule reconsidering its open banking rule, 12 CFR Part 1033, to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) on 4 August 2026. On 22 September 2026, the Federal Register shows no published proposal. Part 1033 test suites keep the published response rate, authorisation, revocation, and data field checks.

Embedded finance trends in 2026: four dated signals and what each changes in testing

Four embedded finance trends in 2026 change test scope: non-bank brands setting up their own FDIC-insured banks, sponsor banks answering for their fintech partners' anti-money laundering (AML) systems, a proposed rewrite of bank AML program rules, and GENIUS Act stablecoin and tokenized deposit rulemaking. Each trend moves testing toward per-transaction evidence a partner bank can review.

Fintech trends 2026: four payment data points that change what QA tests

Four fintech trends in 2026 change payment test scope. FedNow payment count rose 83% in the second quarter while value rose 1%. Instant transfers reached 25% of euro area credit transfers. Brazil's person-to-business Pix payments overtook person-to-person payments. Canada's Real-Time Rail rules took effect on 24 August 2026. Each trend adds limit, timeout, merchant, or irrevocability tests.

k6 load testing tutorial: authorisation and capture under load with k6 v2.3.0

A k6 v2.3.0 load test for a payment application programming interface (API) drives authorisations at a controlled arrival rate with the ramping-arrival-rate executor, gives each virtual user iteration its own idempotency key, and fails the run on 95th and 99th percentile latency per operation, error rate, check rate, and dropped iterations.

Real time payments vs ACH in 2026: RTP, FedNow and Same Day ACH compared for testing

Real-time payments on The Clearing House RTP network and the Federal Reserve's FedNow Service settle each credit instantly, 24x7, with final settlement and no return right. ACH (Automated Clearing House) settles in batches on banking days and allows debits and returns. Testing moves from return handling to pre-send fraud checks, request for payment, and weekend ledger posting.

Testcontainers Kafka tests for a payment event pipeline: redelivery and ledger state

Testcontainers with Kafka lets an integration test start a real Kafka broker, here confluentinc/cp-kafka:8.3.2 through @testcontainers/kafka 12.1.0 for Node.js, next to a Postgres ledger. The test for a payment event pipeline stops the consumer after the database commit and before the offset commit, then asserts one set of ledger postings per event after Kafka redelivers.

Verification of Payee (VoP) under the Instant Payments Regulation (EU) 2024/886 has applied to euro-area payment service providers since 9 October 2025 and applies to providers in non-euro Member States from 9 July 2027. European Payments Council VoP rules effective 20 September 2026 add test cases for 11-character Business Identifier Codes (BICs), timestamps, and error formats.

A shift left testing approach for fintech: the checklist we run on money-moving stories

A shift left testing approach for fintech moves money checks into the story, before code exists. We review every money-moving story against a nine-item checklist: amounts in minor units, rounding rule, currency, idempotency, failure states, reversal, reconciliation hook, regulatory trigger, and audit log. Pull request, continuous integration, and staging checks then test the recorded answers.

Pact contract testing for a checkout service and a payments API (pact-js 17.1.4)

Pact contract testing lets a checkout service record the payments application programming interface (API) responses it depends on and makes the payments API verify them before release. With pact-js 17.1.4, match money amounts with the integer matcher: in our run on 2026-09-22, the type matcher accepted a provider response of 100.5 where the contract expected 10050 minor units.
