Testing for fintech that moves money

FintechAssuranceLabs tests payment, banking, lending, trading, and finance SaaS products for the US, EU, and Canadian markets: payment flows, ledgers, calculations, integrations, security, and performance. Each FintechAssuranceLabs engagement produces evidence an auditor or partner bank can review, such as test evidence packs and reconciliation test scenarios.

Segments we test

The map groups segments in three layers: consumer fintech, B2B finance SaaS, and infrastructure and regtech. Marked segments need a licence or a partner bank for some or all money flows, so testing there includes the evidence a regulator or partner bank requests.

What you receive

Each engagement leaves artifacts with your team: suites that run in your CI and evidence your auditor or partner bank can review.

  • Test evidence pack per audit scope

Collects the test cases and run results for each requirement in the audit scope, including retests after fixes.

  • Requirement-to-test traceability matrix

Links each requirement of a standard to the test cases that verify that requirement.

  • Reconciliation test scenarios

Each scenario compares ledger entries with bank, processor, and scheme files and states the expected match or break.

  • SCA flow coverage report

Shows which login and payment flows trigger PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication and which exemptions the tests cover.

  • Payment flow map

Records every payment state, transition, and failure path from authorisation to settlement.

  • Defect log with financial impact

Lists each defect with the money flow that the defect affects and the monetary impact.

Sample: reconciliation test scenarios

An excerpt from a reconciliation test suite for card settlement and payouts. Each row gives a scenario, the expected ledger entries, and whether reconciliation must match or raise a break.

Questions

What is fintech application testing?

Fintech application testing verifies that software which moves or calculates money behaves correctly, including on failure and retry paths. The scope of fintech application testing covers payment flows, ledger and reconciliation logic, financial calculations, bank and processor integrations, security, and performance. Fintech application testing also produces test evidence against standards such as PCI DSS, PSD2 SCA, DORA, and SOC 2 for auditors and partner banks.

How to choose a QA partner for fintech?

Choose a fintech QA partner on five checks. Ask a fintech QA partner for sample deliverables, such as a reconciliation test suite or a test evidence pack. Check the QA partner's experience with the money flows and integrations of your segment. Check the partner's own certifications, such as PCI DSS and ISO 27001, when the work touches card payments. Confirm how the partner handles test data, environment access, the NDA, and the DPA. Confirm that the partner's engineers can work inside your CI and release process.

How much does fintech application testing cost?

Fintech application testing cost depends on the scope of the engagement. The main cost factors for fintech application testing are the number of money flows and integrations in scope, the standards that need test evidence, the share of regression to automate in CI, the environments and test data to set up, the release frequency, and the date of the next audit or launch. A written test scope gives the cost for a specific product.
